For this year’s edition, Van Cleef & Arpels is presenting an exquisite selection of approximately thirty creations from its Heritage collection, alongside a range of artistic masterpieces, including paintings by celebrated artists, antiques, and decorative arts.

Established in 2007, the Heritage collection features vintage jewellery crafted by the Maison between the 1920s and 1990s, specifically curated for sale. Each piece is meticulously examined by Van Cleef & Arpels' experts before being added to the collection.

One standout creation is the 1994 Orsay bracelet, which features refined motifs arranged with precision and symmetry. This structured aesthetic, combining diamonds with coloured gemstones, is characteristic of the 1990s, while the expert craftsmanship highlights the Maison’s heritage through the use of its signature Mystery Set™ rubies technique.

The bracelet demonstrates how Van Cleef & Arpels draws upon its rich legacy and diverse influences, such as couture, to create distinctive and eclectic designs.

At a time when there is a revived appreciation for the jewellery arts of the 18th century, the Maison’s 1955 necklace reflects the era’s increasing fascination with historicism.

The lower section of the choker features floral diamond garlands interspersed with seven turquoise cabochons of increasing size, culminating in a striking central turquoise pendant.

Nature, particularly floral motifs, has been a longstanding source of inspiration for Van Cleef & Arpels since 1907, as evidenced by its archives. The marguerite, a recurring motif, has been reimagined in various forms over the years. A 1964 clip offers a remarkably naturalistic depiction of the flower, with delicately layered petals appearing to flutter in a gentle breeze.

The choice of materials also reflects the aesthetic trends of the time. Instead of the traditional white gold or platinum settings for diamonds, the piece incorporates vibrant yellow gold. This colour scheme is further accentuated by seven emeralds representing the flower’s stamens.

In an era where a distinction was emerging between daytime jewellery featuring yellow gold and coloured stones and evening jewellery crafted in white gold with precious gemstones, this piece defies convention, blending both styles seamlessly.
