Unseen Works by Félix Vallotton for Sale at Christie's in April 2025

From April 2 to 10, 2025, Christie’s Paris will celebrate the legacy of artist Félix Vallotton (1865–1925) during a week dedicated to 20th and 21st-century art. In tribute to the centenary of Vallotton’s passing, the auction house will feature previously unseen works, marking a significant moment in art history.

The sale on April 10 will highlight the ongoing influence of Vallotton, whose work continues to inspire both collectors and contemporary artists.

Vallotton, a versatile figure within the Nabi movement, was not only a painter but also a printmaker, sculptor, and writer. His works are displayed in renowned institutions like MoMA and the Musée d'Orsay.

The Félix Vallotton Foundation, based in his birthplace of Lausanne, Switzerland, will lead the global celebrations throughout the year.

Among the auction’s offerings are four exclusive pieces from the private collection of Pierre Chapuis, a close friend of the artist’s family. Notable works include La Maison rose, Varengeville (€70,000–100,000).

Paysage côtier (€30,000–50,000), and Paysage (Guernesey) (€3,000–5,000).

Vallotton’s talent for woodcut engraving is represented by Mont-Blanc (€3,000–5,000), while a rare sculpture, Jeune mère (€20,000–30,000), will also be showcased.

This auction is part of a broader cultural initiative led by the Félix Vallotton Foundation, which will culminate in a major retrospective at the Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne, featuring 200 works and cutting-edge research. The exhibition will honour Vallotton's enduring impact over the past century.
