Loro Piana’s Luxurious Pecora Nera® Wool
Loro Piana’s Pecora Nera® wool, sourced from New Zealand, redefines luxury with its natural hues and innovative craftsmanship.
Loro Piana highlights Pecora Nera® wool, a rare and naturally dark-toned fibre renowned for its unique beauty.
Sourced from Fiona Gardner’s farm in New Zealand, this exceptional wool is the result of a longstanding partnership between Loro Piana and the pioneering sheep breeder. Since the early 2000s, their collaboration has focused on enhancing the quality and richness of the fiber’s natural hues.
Since 2003, Loro Piana has been the exclusive purchaser of the Gardner family’s dark wool, strengthening a relationship built on trust and expert craftsmanship. Each batch presents a distinct range of natural tones, requiring exceptional skill to transform into luxurious fabrics.
This season, Loro Piana introduces an innovative three-ply yarn, with each strand in a different natural shade, creating a striking three-dimensional effect.
Furthering its commitment to transparency and innovation, Loro Piana has implemented full traceability for Pecora Nera® wool as of January 2025. In collaboration with the Aura Blockchain Consortium, garments from the Spring-Summer 2025 collection will include a digital certificate, allowing customers to track the wool’s journey from farm to finished product via a QR code.
This initiative reflects Loro Piana’s dedication to sustainability, craftsmanship, and forward-thinking innovation while preserving its legacy of artisanal excellence.
