Sotheby’s is pleased to present Timeless Nature: Property from a Private New York Collection, an extraordinary selection of Impressionist, Modern, and Contemporary masterpieces, alongside iconic works by Claude Lalanne. The collection will be offered on 18 November 2024 during the Modern Evening Auction.
At the heart of Timeless Nature is Paul Signac’s radiant 1917 painting of the French Riviera, Antibes. La Pointe de Bacon. The collection also showcases an exceptional pair of works by Magritte, including a quintessential Surrealist oil painting and one of the artist’s most celebrated sculptural creations. Additional highlights include a powerful wartime still life by Picasso and a refined 1955 portrait of Jacqueline, the artist’s wife and final muse.
