Left Hand or Right Hand? The Wristwatch Drama
Timekeeping has been a fundamental aspect of human advancement, with early devices such as sundials, water clocks, and mechanical clocks marking significant milestones. Sundials, utilised by ancient Egyptians and Greeks, indicated time based on the sun's position. Water clocks, or clepsydras, were used by various ancient cultures, including the Chinese and Greeks, to measure time through the flow of water.
The evolution towards portable timepieces began in the 16th century with German inventor Peter Henlein, who is often credited with pioneering portable timepieces known as "pocket watches." Although these early watches were not wristwatches, they laid the groundwork for portable timekeeping devices.
