Folio 8, The Macallan’s New Limited Edition Whisky
The Macallan has announced the release of Folio 8, the latest edition in The Archival Series, celebrating the brand’s legendary advertising campaigns from the 1980s and 1990s.
This exclusive release brings together the creative brilliance of The Macallan’s past, featuring stories, anecdotes, drawings, and photographs from its most memorable ads. Accompanied by a commemorative booklet and digital content, Folio 8 is beautifully presented in a book-shaped box, making it a must-have for collectors and whisky enthusiasts alike.
Folio 8 pays tribute to one of The Macallan’s most iconic advertising moments,“The Colossus of Nose”, a clever 1980s billboard campaign inspired by the classical Colossus of Rhodes. Created by Art Director David Holmes and Copywriter Nick Salaman, this witty ad brought The Macallan’s distinctive aroma to life in a larger-than-life way.

Beyond its nostalgic inspiration, Folio 8 is a truly remarkable whisky. Its natural terracotta colour is a nod to the roof tiles of Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, where The Macallan’s cask journey begins, and a subtle reference to the sculptural depiction of "The Colossus of Nose" in the original campaign.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Golden sultanas, ripe dates, sweet berry compote, toffee brittle, lemon peel, cinnamon, and hints of anise.
- Palate: Sweet raisins, sultanas, ginger, lemon and orange zest, toffee, and sweet oak.
- Finish: Long, rich, and warming, with lingering sweet oak spices.
