Fine food Shopping at Dunnes Stores Cornelscourt

Monday, 12:20 p.m.—At Dunnes Stores in Cornelscourt, our adventure begins with the most familiar challenge: finding a parking spot. Even on a Monday, the car park is alive with the buzz of eager shoppers. But we know the secret—a tucked-away space by the Oratory, hidden from the usual crowd. With the car parked, the excitement builds as we step into the wonderland that awaits.

Inside, we’re swept into the festive magic. Pyjamas in cheerful reds and greens and sparkling lights cast a glow over the aisles, instantly filling us with holiday cheer. It's a lovely, enchanting atmosphere, but we are here today for fine food.
The air is lively; trolleys jostle, and we weave through the throngs, our eyes already on our first destination: the Baxter & Greene Market Deli.

And there it is—a spread so tempting it feels like a food lover’s dream. A display of vibrant salads, hearty quiches, and premium cuts of ham, each presented to perfection. Our eyes linger, each dish more enticing than the last, filling us with that rare thrill only the finest delis offer. Finally, we ordered 200 grams of Brady Family ham. The subtle aroma rises, and we can already taste it. And then, as if the universe knows exactly what we need, the scent of freshly baked bread fills the air.

We follow the aroma like it’s a breadcrumb trail, arriving at the Alternative Bread Company. Rows of warm, golden loaves greet us, each one a rustic masterpiece. We scoop up a fresh baguette, still warm and crisp, cradling it like treasure. With our prize under our arms, we make our way toward the cheese heaven—Sheridans Cheesemongers.

Here, we feel transported. Among Ireland’s finest cheeses, something unusual catches our eye: a Swiss fondue mix from Fribourg. Such a rare find feels like a little piece of home, its presence here both comforting and thrilling. Plans for a cosy fondue night begin to take shape in our minds when a nearby voice says, “Wagyu beef.”

We turn, and there it is—the gleaming display at James Whelan Butchers. Aproned artisans carefully prepare the finest cuts right in front of us. The marbled, rich Wagyu—a jewel among meats—sits proudly, inviting us to indulge. It’s almost too beautiful to buy, and we savour the moment, feeling drawn into the art of true butchery.

Seafood lovers, too, have a feast for the senses here. The fishmonger’s stall shimmers with the freshest catch of the day, while the Sushi Gourmet stand presents bright, colourful rolls so intricate they look like edible art.

Dunnes Cornelscourt isn’t just a supermarket; it’s a journey through flavours and cultures, a joyful celebration of culinary delights from around the world. Whether we’re craving fresh bread, exquisite cheeses, premium meats, or delicate sushi, this is where fine food dreams come true, each visit a feast for the senses.
