From 9 April to 31 August 2025, Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris will host an expansive David Hockney retrospective, featuring over 400 works spanning seven decades. Personally curated by Hockney and his team, this landmark exhibition will highlight his continuous reinvention, from early paintings to digital creations.

The exhibition opens with key works from the 1950s to 1970s, including Portrait of My Father (1955) and A Bigger Splash (1967).

The core focus, however, is on the past 25 years, showcasing Yorkshire landscapes like Bigger Trees near Warter (2007) and digital works such as the 220 for 2020 iPad series. His portraiture, including 60 striking pieces in various media, will also be on display.

Hockney’s dialogue with European masters like Van Gogh and Picasso is explored on the uppermost floor, alongside a recreation of his studio. His passion for opera is celebrated in a multimedia installation developed with 59 Studio, offering a dynamic fusion of music and visual art.

“This exhibition means an enormous amount because it is the largest exhibition I’ve ever had – 11 rooms in the Fondation Louis Vuitton. Some of the very last paintings I’m working on now will be included in it, and I think it’s going to be very good.” - David Hockney

The final section presents Hockney’s latest works, created in London, where the artist has been residing since July 2023. Inspired by Munch and Blake, these enigmatic pieces explore themes of history and spirituality, culminating in a reflective self-portrait.
