Cheeky Playfulness Takes Centre Stage in Kenzo’s AW25 Collection

Kenzo’s historic location at 18 rue Vivienne provided the backdrop for Nigo’s latest womenswear collection, unveiled to a soundtrack blending 90s hip-hop, punk, and disco.

The grand 17th-century mansion set the scene for a lively and eclectic presentation, reflecting a joyful fusion of boldness and colour.

Inspired by his own wardrobe, Nigo introduced tailoring with a relaxed yet refined edge. Double-breasted tuxedo blazers sat alongside silk bomber jackets and felted duffle hoodies, while Japanese denim jeans featured pink stitching, and airy, billowing trousers offered glimpses of the legs. A delicate, lingerie-like aesthetic emerged through floral prints taken from archival KENZO swimwear, with this feminine freshness extending to accessories, bags adorned with ruched handles and ribbon bow details.

Motifs throughout the collection added to its playful spirit. Two mischievous rabbits, “Lucky Me” in pink and “Lucky You” in pastel blue, brought a sense of fun to the runway. Inspired by a 1979 Kenzo Takada sketch, these whimsical characters appeared across a rabbit-adorned vest, bunny-eared hoodies, and sling-back slippers.

Exquisite craftsmanship was evident in every detail. Crystal pavé belt buckles paid homage to streetwear aesthetics, buttons were hand-carved from tonal mother-of-pearl, and tailored jacket linings met the rigorous standards of Savile Row. While the collection exuded light-hearted charm, every element was meticulously considered, including a heartfelt tribute to the KENZO atelier team, with a cotton-linen parka embroidered with the rainbow-coloured signatures of its members.

Kenzo’s AW25 collection captures the essence of cheeky playfulness, seamlessly blending heritage, innovation, and artistry.
