For Pierre-Henri Raphanel, it was a passion he embraced for nearly two decades. Now, Bruno Spengler assumes the role, carrying forward this prestigious legacy.
Spengler’s motorsport career has been marked by unwavering dedication. From his beginnings in karting to securing top-tier championships, his commitment to racing has been evident at every turn. Today, he brings his extensive experience and profound passion for high performance to his new position – one defined by excellence and steeped in a rich heritage.
Born in France and raised in Canada, Spengler gained international acclaim for his achievements on the track. After seven successful years racing for Mercedes-Benz in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM), he joined BMW M Motorsport in 2012, beginning a 13-year association with the Bavarian manufacturer.
Spengler played a key role in BMW’s return to DTM, competing in the championship from 2012 to 2019. During this time, he established himself as one of the series’ most decorated drivers, achieving 16 wins, 50 podium finishes, and the prestigious 2012 DTM title.

Beyond DTM, Spengler excelled in endurance racing, with notable performances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. These accomplishments further solidified his reputation as a versatile and highly skilled driver.
As Bugatti’s new Pilote Officiel, Spengler will take on a central role in representing the brand at exclusive events, sharing his expertise with Bugatti clients worldwide, demonstrating the unparalleled performance of its hyper sports cars, and contributing to the development of a new era for Bugatti, which began with the unveiling of the Tourbillon in Molsheim in June.
Pierre-Henri Raphanel, who served as Bugatti Pilote Officiel for almost 20 years, leaves behind a remarkable legacy. A former Formula 1 driver and 24 Hours of Le Mans competitor, Raphanel’s tenure was defined by his deep affinity for the brand and his ability to convey the thrill of driving a Bugatti to enthusiasts and clients alike.
Since assuming the role in 2005, Raphanel has played a crucial part in demonstrating the capabilities of Bugatti’s most iconic models, from the record-breaking Veyron 16.4 to the visionary Chiron and beyond. He even set the world speed record for a production car in the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport in 2010 – a milestone that reinforced Bugatti’s position as a leader in automotive engineering and performance at the time.
