75 Years of Porsche in Zuffenhausen
Celebrating 75 years of Porsche in Zuffenhausen, where legendary performance and cutting-edge innovation come together in automotive perfection.

On 6 April 1950, the first Porsche 356 rolled off the production line in Zuffenhausen, marking the dawn of an extraordinary automotive legacy.
Seventy-five years on, this historic site remains the nucleus of Porsche’s production, where cutting-edge innovation meets the artistry of fine craftsmanship.

Porsche’s journey began in 1938 as a construction office, but it wasn’t until after WWII that the brand’s cars took shape.
The 356 ‘No.1’ Roadster, completed in 1948 in Austria, set the blueprint for the Stuttgart-built models that followed.
By the end of 1950, 317 Porsche 356s had been produced, laying the foundation for a brand that would redefine performance motoring.

The arrival of the 911 in 1964 cemented Zuffenhausen’s status as Porsche’s beating heart. The production facility adapted, introducing flexible assembly lines capable of accommodating a range of variants, a practice still in place today.

Throughout the decades, growth was relentless: new buildings, expanded production capacities, and cutting-edge innovations ensured that Porsche remained at the forefront of performance engineering.

The 21st century ushered in a new era of technological advancement. Zuffenhausen evolved to embrace electrification, leading to the launch of the Taycan in 2019.
Today, this legendary site produces the entire 911 range, alongside the all-electric Taycan, with engines and electric drives crafted in-house.

Meanwhile, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur continues to deliver bespoke creations for discerning clientele.
Celebrating 75 years in Zuffenhausen, Porsche honours its past while driving towards a future where tradition and innovation blend perfectly.
